A Closer Look At Armin Strom’s New Tribute 1 Limited Editions
Following the resounding success of its Tribute 1 First Edition, the brand has released two new limited editions of this contemporary dress watch, both featuring eye-catching dials
It has been just over two months since Armin Strom released its smart, post-modern take on a high-end dress watch, the Tribute 1 First Edition. The 25-piece limited edition rapidly sold out, and no wonder; it had plenty going for it.
In light of that success, the Bienne-based independent brand boasting its own manufacture has launched two new Tribute 1 models – one with a black dial, the other with a blue dial – each in 100-piece limited editions.
Winning Ingredients
The gray dialed Tribute 1 First Edition hit the spot with collectors for a number of reasons.
For a start, it looks great, with its off-centered sub-dial displaying hours, minutes, and seconds via manufacture-made, polished hands, counterbalanced by an exposed, highly decorated mainspring barrel supported by Armin Strom’s signature finger bridge. Those elements are surrounded by a dial plate that has been hand-frosted to contrast nicely with the sub-dial’s concentric groove motif.
The dimensions of the Tribute 1 also make it extremely comfortable to wear for both men and women, with the stainless-steel case just 38mm in diameter and 9mm thick, and the winding and time-setting crown placed at 2 o’clock to free up space for wrist movement.
And inside, the smartly finished, hand-wound Calibre AMW21 powers the HMS indications. This in-house movement is visible through the transparent display back and packs an extremely generous 100-hour power reserve.
The cherry on the cake of the first edition was the CHF 13,900 price tag. It made the overall proposition really appealing, especially when you take into account that this superb-looking dress watch was a very limited edition of only 25 and packed in-house-made hands and finely finished mechanics.
More of the Same, But in Black and Blue
Those watch fans who missed out on acquiring the Tribute 1 First Edition, fret not! Because these two new Tribute 1’s offer more of the same goodness. Returning is the highly wearable 38mm steel case, and so does the minimalist and contemporary looking dial, only this time in understated black or eye-catching blue.
The bridge of the exposed barrel is now in brass instead of white gold, as it was for the First Edition, but it has still been decorated to the same high standards, with circular graining on the barrel and straight graining on the finger bridge. The display caseback also reveals the high level of finishing, with Geneva waves, straight and circular graining, and perlage, all deployed to fantastic effect.
Weekend-Proof
Owners still benefit from the four days of autonomy afforded by the Calibre AMW21 movement, making it possible to take the watch off over the weekend and put it back on Monday morning with the balance still beating and the correct time displayed.
And the price remains very attractive, staying at CHF 13,900. While production is still limited – 100 pieces for the black dial and the 100 pieces for the blue dial – there will be a few more to be snapped up this time, which will put a smile on the face of many collectors.
Each new Tribute 1 is paired with an alligator leather strap that matches the color of the dial and fastens via a double folding clasp in stainless steel.
